Dr. Michael R. Cunningham was dean of the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University from June 20th, 2011 through June 30th, 2013. An award winning teacher, he's taught management, entrepreneurship, and international business strategy at California Polytechnic State University, San Diego State University, and New York University.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Cunningham, a New York native, was a successful entrepreneur. He founded Cunningham Graphics International (CGII) in 1989, and took the company public on NASDAQ in 1998. By the time the company was sold to Automatic Data Processing (ADP) in 2000, it had operations in seven countries and employed more than 1500 people.
In 2007, Dr. Cunningham returned to the corporate world by taking the helm at Diversified Global Graphics Group (DG3), where he restructured and led a management leveraged buyout alongside a private equity firm. He remained with DG3 as president and Chief Executive Officer until 2010.
Michael Cunningham's global business expertise perfectly matches San Diego State University's highly ranked international business programs and the College of Business Administration's mission, "Leadership for the Global Marketplace."
Michael Cunningham earned his master's degree in graphic communications, management and technology (1996), and his Ph.D. in administration, leadership and technology (2005) at New York University. He received his bachelor's degree in marketing and business management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
A proud father of three adult children, Dr. Cunningham lives in Rancho Santa Fe.
