As I commence my term as the interim dean of the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University, I am excited to have the opportunity to continue our tradition of excellence. Our university has established a strategic plan with the vision of building on student success, community engagement, and research excellence. Our college is well-positioned to expand this vision.
Our College has never been stronger. U.S. News & World Report named us as having one of the top ten M.B.A. programs in the state of California. Both Professional Woman's Magazine and Hispanic Network Magazine have listed us among their Best of the Best M.B.A. programs for 2013. This is primarily due to the fact that we continuously look for new ways to develop a relevant and innovative curriculum which has paid off in even greater career placement for our students upon graduation.
Our long standing best-in-class entrepreneurial program was enhanced even further through a generous gift from Leonard Lavin which paved the way for the christening of the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center. This will provide our entrepreneurial-minded students from across the campus with additional resources to start and maintain successful businesses that augment the global economy.
Additionally, significant financial contributions from several of our board members and supporters will provide the necessary funding for some much-needed renovations to our facilities. Our classrooms will be the first beneficiary of the new construction that will add modern technology and updated amenities designed to enhance the educational environment.
Our outstanding faculty has set the bar high with their topical and practical research. Our faculty focuses on creating knowledge in the field, providing models and evidence for the practice of business, and sharing the art of teaching business.
SDSU's College of Business Administration is where many of the best students and ground-breaking business academics come together as we continue to evolve as one of the most influential business schools in the nation.
