As they have for the past four years, the SDSU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was declared a winner in the national KPMG Gold Challenge. The announcement took place during the organization's annual meeting which took place in Baltimore from August 2–4, 2012. SDSU was one of nine 2012 Gold Challenge winners as well as the recipient of a $2,500 check for the chapter.

Additionally, a three-person team comprised of SDSU Beta Alpha Psi members Matthew Perona, Luke Mourian and Austin Hughes took second place in the National Best Practices competition in the "Developing Strategies for Change" category. This is a step up from 2011, when another team from SDSU took third place in the competition.

Beta Alpha Psi is a national honors organization which recognizes university students in the fields of accounting, finance and information systems. There are over 270 BAP chapters throughout the world. Dr. David DeBoskey acts as BAP's faculty advisor.
