SDSU Students Win Top Honors 2014 NAIOP Challenge
A team of San Diego State University undergraduate students won the fourth annual NAIOP University Challenge, making it the third time in four years that the SDSU has taken the top prize. The challenge was staged on April 25 as SDSU competed with students from the University of San Diego and the University of California, San Diego.
The student teams were given the opportunity to develop a plan for the U.S. post office site located at Midway Drive in San Diego. "The challenge of this project was not only to find the best use of the land, but what also made the most sense," said Mark Goldman, team advisor and SDSU real estate lecturer. "Our team was the only one to offer a solution that included repurposing many of the existing structures, along with the innovative use of converting shipping containers into prefabricated modular housing units."
