SDSU Professor Receives International Honor
The director of SDSU’s Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, along with 11 SDSU entrepreneurship students participated in a summer travel study aboard experience at the University of Alcala in Alcala, Spain. They were joined by Dr. Scott Venezia and five of his students from CETYS University in Ensenada, Mexico along with six entrepreneurial students and professors from the University of Alcala.
On July 5, 2016, each of the students received a certificate of completion in a closing ceremony held in a room within the university that is used by Spain’s king and queen to bestow the nation’s top honor in literature, the Cervantes Prize. After the students had received their certificates, DeNoble and Venezia (dean for international affairs at CETYS University) were called to the front of the room and awarded honorary degrees from the University of Alcala’s faculty of economics.
“It was a total surprise and it was wonderful to have my work and passion for entrepreneurial academics recognized on an international level,” said DeNoble. “It is hard to put into words the feelings and sentiments expressed at that moment, but the outstanding learning experience for our students and the unexpected honor bestowed on Dr. Venezia and myself made this a truly memorable study abroad program for all of us.”
